Into the

Drive north through rural villages and coconut plantations into Sri Lanka's ancient Cultural Triangle. Late afternoon: the Dambulla Cave Temple — a UNESCO World Heritage Site of luminous Buddhist murals carved into living rock, above sweeping jungle views.
Sigiriya
at Sunrise
Depart before dawn to climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress as the sun breaks over the canopy. A specialist guide unlocks the ancient royal citadel — its frescoes, water gardens, mirror wall, and lion paws carved from stone. Afternoon: cycling through paddy fields, a cooking demonstration, and a home-style lunch with a local family.
Sri Lanka's

Travel south through the hill country to Kandy. Scenic drive around the lake and surrounding hills before the day's centrepiece — an evening guided visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, where the island's most revered Buddhist relic has been enshrined for over 1,600 years.
